Cyberbullying and Parental Controls
Most parents are aware of the danger of online predators - we have Dateline to thank for that. But, as cyberbullying becomes more and more dangerous, concerned moms and dads should turn to parental controls to prevent this new form of Internet danger.
The stories are disturbing, and growing in numbers. One article on the dangers of cyberbullying recounts the deaths of a 15-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy, both of whom committed suicide after suffering from online attacks.
As it says in the article, this type of bullying present "a different level of cruelty" that is "far more damaging" than schoolyard taunts.
But as parents know, pre-teens and teenagers aren't always comfortable talking to their mom or dad about bullying. It's often humiliating, and many kids don't want to relive the experience by recounting it to their parents.
This is where parental controls come in - and as cyberbullying gets worse, it might even save a life.
Quality parental controls allow parents to see who is saying what to their kids online. This includes in Instant Messages, email, in social networking sites, and even at gaming sites. If your kid is being attacked online, parental control software will reveal what's going on.
