The Age of Digital Dangers Requires Parental Controls
In the Tennessean's heart-wrenching op ed regarding cyber bullies and digital abuse, the growing problem of "sexting" is addressed in the wake of a 13-year-old-girl's suicide.
Here again is why parental controls are so important today.
Sure, it was a cell phone that led to this horrible event, but as the author makes clear, in this "digital age" the dangers lurk "from cell phones to laptops."
It's harder to control what your child does and says with a cell phone, but thanks to parental controls the Internet is one place where cyber bullying and online predators can be stopped.
The editor asks "how many of us actually discuss the risks of their [children's] life online?"
Sadly, even when we do discuss it with them, some kids just aren't listening.
But, whether you're a parent who thinks "it couldn't happen to my kid," or if you have a kid who thinks "it won't happen to me," it still pays to invest in parental control software.
They're discreet, they block inappropriate materials, and in many cases they can be a parent's only tip-off that something inappropriate, dangerous, or even abusive is happening to their child.
